Manual Therapy, Mobilisation and Manual Therapy
A hands on clinical approach to Physiotherapy including but not limited to joint manipulation and mobilisation.
The approach is used to assess and treat soft tissue and joint structures in order to reduce pain, increase range of motion, reduce inflammation, induce relaxation, improve tissue repair and improve function. All musculoskeletal physiotherapists are skilled in applying mobilisation techniques safely, although use of joint manipulation is less common and usually practiced by those having undergone specialist post graduate training. Manipulation is practiced by a number of different professions and known variously as adjustment, high velocity thrust, manipulation with impulse and grade V mobilization. The common feature is that they achieve a ‘popping’ or ‘cracking’ sound. At Head2Toe Physio we believe a multi-modal approach achieves results, combining manual therapy with other forms of treatment including core stability exercise, Pilates, proprioceptive training, acupuncture etc.
