“I have been working with Sam and the clinic for a number of years. As a Paralympic athlete with high expectations and lots of complications, it has always been critical that I find someone who is knowledgeable and trustworthy. I introduced Sam to British Athletics who then approved him to work with me in the lead up to 2012. It was great to have such expertise on my doorstep and they were so flexible, always fitting me in when I had an ache or a pain”.
Sophia Warner, Commercial Director, UK Athletics and T35 100, 200m Paralympian
“I would just like to say what an amazing Physiotherapist Claire Gibson has been. Always respectful of your pain thresholds and limits. Encouraging but not forceful. I would and will recommend her over and over again. Despite my arm/neck refusing to co-operate she still managed to give me more movement than I had. I greatly appreciate her efforts”.
“I came to Head2Toe for treatment of a frozen shoulder after being diagnosed with the condition by my GP who recommended I should try physiotherapy. Having read on the web about the difficulty of treating frozen shoulder I was sceptical that physio would be able to help me very much.
I was treated by Mel Bowden at the Crawley clinic with manipulation, acupuncture and follow-up home exercises. My condition started to improve almost immediately and the benefit I got from the acupuncture, in particular, was quite astonishing. After just 6 weeks of regular treatment I had regained more or less full use of my shoulder.
I am very grateful to Mel and the team at Head2Toe for fixing my shoulder and I would highly recommend them to anybody who is suffering from a similar problem”.
“Gareth has been my physiotherapist for 5 years now. I’ve often been through Gareth’s care to resolve back, neck, shoulder and arm injuries. Some of the injuries were extremely serious, for example following a car crash, and some were simply painful wear and tear for an over-committed experienced cyclist on and off road, quite accident prone! Whatever the matter at hand, I can always be assured that Gareth will identify the root cause of the matter immediately, set straight out to improve my mobility, relieve the pain and fix the injury in a very structured manner. I fully recommend Gareth’s knowledge, ethic and commitment to his physiotherapy.
Nic Allen, Crawley
“I had never had to see a Physiotherapist before but a niggling problem with my hamstring meant a visit was required. I had dismissed this initially as not being anything other than age catching up and new desk bound role at work but was surprised to find that it wasn’t just a muscle problem and I had may have been compounding the problem with the type of stretching I was doing”! Sam advised exercises to work on for core strength and added some neural mobilising stretches which I am pleased to say have made a huge difference. I wish I had asked for some proper advice years ago rather than just doing what everyone else seems to do – which invariably is wrong”!
Rob W, BMW Product Engineer
“I’ve been training hard in martial arts and lifting weights for many years. This has taken its toll on my body and earlier this year I suffered a recurrence of an old shoulder injury. I began to think that maybe my fighting days were over. Fortunately Meera was able to help me out with some physiotherapy plus a cortisone injection, which allowed me to train hard on upper body exercises again. I recently won my 3rd British Kung Fu title and I now feel confident that I can keep on winning”.
“As a long-haul airline pilot my job is quite sedentary. This occupation is no stranger to regular and sometimes chronic back issues. Sam Bowden not only administered excellent treatment – but also introduced specific exercises that produced many benefits. I cannot recommend his professionalism and effectiveness highly enough”.
Mike Creer, Pilot, Virgin Airways
“I’m a local swimming teacher who had been struggling with a stiff neck. The lack of neck rotation was affecting two sports, both my breathing pattern whilst swimming crawl, as well as my golf swing. I found Sam’s professional, welcoming manner re-assuring and he explained my condition and treatment thoroughly. Improvement was immediate and I have recommended Sam to a number of my adult swimmers and colleagues”.
Julia T, Dorking Swimming Teacher
“I have been in private practice as a Podiatrist for 10 years and have a busy Practice with a large patient base. My patients’ wellbeing is of the utmost importance to me and I aim to provide the best care possible to speed their recovery. If I feel they need the care of a physiotherapist there is only a very short list of practices that I would entrust them to. I have known and worked with Sam Bowden for 10 years and I have the utmost respect for his and his colleagues’ knowledge and expertise. His practices are always at the very top of that list. I cannot recommend them highly enough”.
Steve Wells, Epsom Footcare
“I went to Sam at Dorking Physiotherapy Clinic due to a shoulder injury which was keeping me awake at night and causing pain. Sam treated the injury, then gave clear exercises to minimise injury in the future and reduce number of paying visits. Great to visit a honest and forward thinking Physio”.

They are an extremely valuable resource for me and we work well together in improving clients throughout the rehabilitation phase, helping them to get back to being injury and pain free”.

“I have seen a number of physio’s and other medical professionals for sports injuries over many years, and have found Sam to be at the very top in terms of quality. Accurate diagnosis, excellent treatment, and a clear path back to fitness which has enabled me to resume activity quickly without causing any setback in recovery time. Given my positive experience, I have referred my daughter and sister at different times to Sam for different problems, and they have been delighted with how they have been treated. I would strongly recommend him as a leading professional in his field.”
John Kelting, Managing Director, Head of Products, Barclays Bank PLC
“I was originally referred to Dorking Physiotherapy Clinic by my Spinal Consultant and have been using them ever since. The therapists are excellent and they do everything they can to fit your appointments round you. The treatment is excellent and reasonably priced and I have recommended them to all of my friends. They have worked wonders on my back and I am so grateful to them for teaching me how to help myself so that I don’t need to rely on them but they are still there when I need them.”
Judi Crook, Appeals Manager Unum Ltd
“I would like to thank Sam and the complete physio team at Dorking Physio Clinic. After the car crash I was involved in, my whole outlook and future was very uncertain. Sam and the team provided excellent Physiotherapy and I couldn’t believe the difference it made in such a short time. Life has returned to normal for me and I have returned to my fantastic stunt / acting career and I am able to carry out the work I love to do. This wouldn’t have been possible without Sam’s brilliant work and I couldn’t recommend him and the team more highly. Thank you very much!”
Luing Andrews, Actor and Stuntman
“Having struggled to resolve a shoulder injury despite receiving treatment from a number of different physios and health professionals over a long period, I was naturally sceptical when I first booked an appointment with Sam at the Dorking Physiotherapy Clinic. However, he immediately diagnosed the problem and set me on a course to full recovery via a combination of home exercises and clinical therapy. I would fully recommend Sam to anyone seeking help with a long-term injury, particularly those who still wish to remain active while undergoing treatment.”
Anthony James, UKiP, Media and Events Ltd
“I was very satisfied with my treatment for a disc prolapse. The team of physios gave great care, and delivered really good results. They also took the time to find out what I was worried about and make sure I was reassured. I am now back doing the sports I enjoyed, thanks to the exercises and therapy I received”.
“Other clinics might have prolonged the process but Dorking Physiotherapy Clinic focused on getting me on my feet as quickly as possible. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to them; they are honest, straight-talking and I know their priority is getting me where I need to get to”.
Zane Kanderian, Adam Smith International
“Sam was recommended to me by my podiatrist and after years of pain and many consultants he at last was able to define – and solve – the problem. His professional, yet relaxed manner puts you at ease and his ability to quickly get to the core of any problem means that he’s now my first port of call for any aches, pains and injuries”.
C Towns, CIB Communications

Bob Gray, Club Chairman, Dorking Lawn Tennis and Squash Club
“I met Sam after I damaged my hip skiing. He has been instrumental in my rehabilitation. He is caring, conscientious and professional. I have no hesitation in recommending him or his clinics”
“My 14 year old daughter had an appointment with Sam for a sports injury to
her knee. Sam asked lots of questions, explained clearly to her what was
wrong, and gave her some exercises to do at home explaining not only would
these strengthen her muscles now but if she continues to do them would have
on going health benefits. He was able to reassure her and even spent extra
time with her at the end explaining how he got into physiotherapy – a field
she thought she maybe interested in. Fully recommend!!
Karin Wilkins, Dorking

“Sam is a miracle worker! I went to see him after having been told I would need to stop weight lifting to save my knees. Sam in one appointment found a non-surgical solution and gave me exercises to work on to strengthen my knees. I am still lifting competitively and have virtually no pain. I cannot thank Sam enough for all his help and support, if it wasn’t for Sam I would still be in agony and not partaking in the sport I love! Sam you are the best!”
E Thorp, Competitive powerlifter
“Thank you Anna for the exercise sheet and also, thank you for the treatment yesterday. I ran 18 miles today on the North Downs, and it was like having a new pair of legs! Brilliant!”
Darla T, Runner
“Grace has been ‘Great’ she diagnosed my injuries and gave me exercises to gradually build strength up in the associated muscles and tendons. My injury was ’Tennis elbow’ in both arms, and although the healing time is long, she has definitely helped my recovery. She has a very personable nature and personality, understanding and professional at all times.”
