Anna is a fully qualified and insured clinical and sports massage therapist and has been practicing for about 15 years. She has worked with a wide range of people from Olympic athletes, swimmers competing at a national level, runners hoping to improve their performance and overcome long standing ‘niggles’, marathon runners in preparation for and following events, manual labourers, musicians, office workers who have developed poor posture, people with chronic back, shoulder and neck injuries, mums who are in pain as they will do anything to keep their child in that awkward position if it means they sleep, and mums-to-be as they prepare for the arrival of their little one! Having qualified as a ScarWork Therapist, Anna also spends a lot of time working with people who have scars, big or small. The impact of scarring on the body, no matter how small, can be significant, and often occurs at sites away from the scar, so the scar’s significance may not be immediately apparent to the patient. Anna takes a holistic approach to all treatments, looking at the body as a whole.
As a scientist in a former life, Anna likes to bring in her research knowledge to her work, staying up-to-date with techniques and research. As part of her Level 6 qualification, she carried out a research project, investigating the effects of massage on urinary incontinence in postnatal women; her project showed significant positive results. Anna has a particular interest in helping women recover from pregnancy and birth and works with women on a 1-2-1 or group basis to help them regain connection with their core, including pelvic floor. Anna loves to learn and is constantly adding to her skill sets, investigating techniques, researching alternative ways to help people, and understanding better ways to lead a healthy lifestyle.
When she’s not working, Anna can be found running around after her two young children, getting out an about in the fresh air, or donning a pair of pointe shoes to immerse herself in her big passion of dance.
